From McDonalds to the Grand Windsor, Jasmine Parker’s NZMA journey has taken her more places than she could have imagined.
Jasmine graduated from NZMA with a Level 5 Diploma in Hospitality Management, which she says has given her a purpose and a defined path.
“Apart from the skills training in my course, I gained confidence and learnt the importance of presenting myself well in interviews,” Jasmine shared.
Her career started with humble beginnings, but after undergoing barista training at NZMA, a wealth of other employment opportunities opened up.
“I was able to start working in cafes, which I loved. I particularly love baking, so was in my element working in cafes!”
Jasmine has joined the foundation team at Auckland’s Grand Windsor Hotel (now known as Fable Auckland).
“I’m getting hands-on experience in a range of roles as the hotel is in the final stage of renovations.”
She credits her success, in part, to NZMA’s Careers Team.
“They really have your best interests at heart and help with opportunities to find work and this made all the difference to me.”
The sky is the limit for Jasmine, as she aims to gain her Level 6 and 7 qualifications with NZMA before continuing her studies abroad.
