If you’re passionate about helping people in your community get well, our brand new course gives you an introduction on pharmacy practices to kick-start your learning journey towards the pharmaceutical industry. You can make a real difference in helping patients health and wellbeing while building your career in pharmacy.

You’ll gain hands on experience in a fun, practical learning environment giving you the basic competencies you will need to start your career as a pharmacy technician.

During this course you will learn everything you need to know in pharmacy retail operations, learn about professional conduct, customer service and how to communicate to your patients while providing accurate health advice to patients and your community.

You'll also gain real world industry experience and complete 90 hours at a pharmacy provider as part of your training.

You will learn:

  • About professionalism, ethics, and effective communication.

  • Legislation in retail pharmacy workplace.

  • How to apply retail pharmacy customer care and advice.

  • First Aid.

  • Retail operations: support, calculations, and technology.

Course start dates

NZ Certificate in Pharmacy (Introduction to Pharmacy Practice) (Level 3)

  • NCEA Level 2 or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.

  • Domestic applicants must be 17 years of age or older.

  • International applicants must be 18 years of age or older; and have a general or academic IELTS score of 5 or equivalent recognised testing system result.

  • Have an acceptable New Zealand Police vet prior to the beginning of practical experience.

  • Applicants must attend an interview.
